Natural Disasters

This was one of the first classes I took when initially going to college and the greatest lesson I learned, besides life saving ones in the event of an actual natural disaster was to "not sweat the small stuff." I was extremely nervous about attending college after 14 years out of high school and this teacher really put my worries at ease while ironically opening my eyes to the real dangers of weather and earth all around us. I am reminded now of the song by Van Halen entitled, "Respect the Wind," found on the Twister soundtrack, and this class had just such an effect on my understanding of all the natural possibilities if we don't respect them. I learned a lot about weather patterns and connections, that I can relate to on a daily basis when simple stepping outside. That is an understanding that could help me many years to come.
